A group of friends pick up a hitcher late one
night while on their way to a party, only to
crash in the woods moments later when an
unidentified object smashes into their windshield.
They soon discover that the hitcher is in fact
a notorious serial killer, and not only that,
but there's also an evil lurking beneath them.

What do you get when you mix The Hitcher with
Tremors? Well not Resonnances anyway. Resonnances
can more accurately be described as a mixture
between The Asylum's The Hitchhiker and Razortooth.
This French low-budget horror flick tries so hard
to be a new cult flick that you can't help but
to feel sorry for the guys behind it for failing
so badly at making one. See not only is
Resonnances ridiculously low budget, but it's
also poorly scripted, poorly acted and poorly
directed, the only thing that saves this movie
from being a complete and total wreck is the
fact that it has a soul. You can really tell that
the guys behind the movie were truly dedicated
to making a good and entertaining flick and you
know, while it's overall really bad, it's still
got some entertainment value to it.

Resonnances tells the story of a group of random
teens who pick up a hitcher late one night,
despite the warnings that they just heard on the
radio saying that there's a deranged serial
killer on the loose in the area. Anyway, they
crash with the car and find themselves stranded
in the woods with a serial killer. To make things
worse there's an alien creature lurking in the
dirt below them. Is it a snake? Is it a worm?
Who cares when the creature moves in the same
manor as the tremors. You know, speaking of the
creature, I have to say that I was moderately
surprised by how decent the special effects were
in this flick. I mean, here we have a movie that
looks like it was shot with a home camcorder and
we have special effects that could outshine most
Sci-Fi channel originals any day of the week. Fine,
some sequences are used more than once but still,
I was somewhat impressed.

However, that's the only real redeeming quality
that this movie has. We don't get to know much
about the characters, the serial killer is a joke
and the terror beneath them isn't very terrifying.
In fact, I think that you should treat this movie
a bit as a gag since it goes down a whole lot
easier that way. I can see why this French creature
feature has gone under the radar and I suspect
that most of you guys will never even get a
chance to see this film - which is probably all
for the better. Either way, it's not as bad as
it could've been and you can tell that there was
a lot of effort put into this production so
I appreciate that but certainly not something
I would be able to recommend with a clean conscious.

Some minor gore, severed body parts etc.

Nothing to call home about (I'm really starting
to dig that expression).

While not as pointless as a rerun of The Cosby
Show, Resonnances can still be described as a
waste of space. It's not very good, it's not
very entertaining and it's not very original.
It may keep you watching until the end but also,
it may not. A failed attempt at a cult flick
but at least they tried.
