Alan's girlfriend just broke up with him and with
his mother in the hospital it seems as if his life
has no meaning anymore. He decides that the best
thing to do is go visit his loving mother at the
hospital but as he has no car he decides to hitch-
hike. Big mistake. On his long travel he gets face
to face with rabid dogs, crazy hillbillies, dead
people and escaped convicts. Will he be able to
get to his sick mother or will he die on the way
there? This trip might be his last.

Riding The Bullet is the latest horror movie based
on a novel by Stephen King and it's not as good as
some of his previous movies but on the other hand,
it's a lot better than some of them as well. The
story revolves around Alan whose girlfriend just
broke up with him and his sick mother is lying in
the hospital in his childhood city. Allan always
builds up scenarios about what's going to happen,
you might say that he's a bit paranoid and as you
might understand, a paranoid person should never
hitch-hike. The story feels pretty repetitive and
far too drawn out. I accept the fact that Stephen
King movies usually clock in at around 2 and a
half hours but this one didn't need that length.
I just didn't feel that it had a story strong enough.
The directing is pretty good though I would have
expected the photo to be better since this was in
fact shown at a limited amount of theatres. It
both looks and feels like a DTV flick to me. The
acting on the other hand is really good and you
can't help to get a tear in your eye at times as
the relationship between Alan and his mother
feels so strong and real. David Arquette has a
small part in here as well and he pulls off a
pretty good performance compared with what we've
seen of him before.
In the end I felt that Riding The Bullet was too
long, too repetitive and far from scary enough
to completely satisfy me and keep me interested.
It's not a bad flick though, I just think it's
one of those stories that are a lot better in
the book than on the screen. It's still very true
to the book so if you liked the book you might
want to see this, though prepare to be disappointed.
It's a good flick but not nearly as terrifying as
I hoped that it'd be.

A severed hand, a disgusting corpse, a dismembered
head and brains. Pretty satisfying you might think
but considering the fact that it's so long, this
gore isn't really enough.

Brilliantly put together. It mixes 70s rock music
with atmospheric piano music and more recent rock
music. It's cleverly put together and really works.

Riding The Bullet is far from the fright fest that
I wanted it to be. You can tell that it's a King
movie but I had really hoped that it would be more
scary. If you're a fan of King movies you should
check it out, but this movie is very forgettable
so if you can't decide whether to rent it or not,
think of it like this; over two hours of average
entertainment, is it really worth it?
