A bunch of
British colonials arrive at the island of
Roanoke to start a new life, something which proves to
be more difficult than they had anticipated. Not only
are they running out of food, but they're also running
from the wraiths of Roanoke. What are those you ask?
A bunch of pirate-looking ghosts that apparently
control the forest and kill people at random.

Is it just me or is the Sci-Fi channel straying further
and further away from science fiction and closer to
low-budget horror? Okay, I can buy that creature
features may be somewhat sci-fi but this movie is the
direct opposite of a sci-fi movie as it revolves
around a bunch of British colonials who are discovering
America. Supposedly based on a true story, I'm guessing
that the only truth behind this story is that a couple
of colonials died on an island they've just discovered.
In other words, them running out of food was probably
based on a true story but the wraiths are most likely
completely fictional. It's just too ludicrous to be
taken seriously. So the question here is; what exactly
is a wraith anyway?
Well, I haven't quite figured that one out yet (to be
honest with you I didn't pay a whole lot attention to
the movie as the bag of crisps in front of me was a
whole lot more intriguing) but as far as I gathered
a wraith is an evil spirit that controls the forest
and can't cross water. Oh and they want babies. It
didn't take me longer than five minutes to figure out
that this was going to be filler material for the
Saturday night schedule as the acting was just beyond
horrible. The actors try in vain to sound like British
colonials but end up sounding ridiculous. The sets are
rather cheap and the ghosts look like they were made
in Photoshop. Everything about this felt cheap. Even
the story was campy, making the native Americans look
like the bad guys and the colonials look like heroes.
I'm not in the mood for spending a whole lot of effort
with this review since there obviously wasn't much
effort put into the movie itself (heck, writing this
review probably took longer than writing the entire
script). Usually the Sci-Fi channel advertise the
crap out of their Saturday night originals and there's
a reason as to why this one passed below the radar with
almost no advertising at all. If you enjoyed Attack Of
The Gryphon (which I didn't even make it through), you
may find some enjoyment out of watching this campy
horror movie (if you can call it that). But to me this
was just a complete waste of time.

Arms ripped off and some minor blood.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's a
Sci-Fi channel original, who the hell gives a crap?

Campy low-rent horror flick which will be lucky if it
finds a distributor on DVD. I don't know who this
movie was going to appeal to as it's obviously not
aimed at the Sci-Fi crowd, nor the horror crowd, nor
the epic crowd. Eh, it's a movie to fill an empty
slot in the schedule, that's all it is.
