After getting into some car trouble in the middle of
nowhere, four criminals seek shelter in an isolated
fort. They are welcomed by three beautiful women who
have never been outside of the fort. Why? Well they're
about to find out...

So here it is, NBC's version of Masters Of Horror, man
those guys are getting desperate for a new hit show
aren't they? Anyway so the difference between the two
shows is that these episodes are only an hour long
(and that includes commercials). So what's the verdict
on the first episode? Well, it's not great that's for
sure. It's got a terrific cast, good production values
and everything it takes for a horror movie to be good,
except for an enjoyable story. The story is so far-fetched,
uninspired and plain that you're never very interested
in what's going on. It could be the fact that I've
always disliked vampire movies in general and that it
takes a lot for a vampire flick to impress me (only a
few have succeeded) but I think the main issue here was
that it felt like a rush-job with the sole purpose of
filling a slot in the time schedule.

Okay so the story centres on four criminals who seek
shelter in a gigantic fort in the middle of nowhere,
only to realize that the place is inhabited by a vampire
and three sadistic girls. There's good stuff to be
found in here but as you can tell, there's not a lot
of creativity to be found in the story-line. However,
despite the unimaginative plot, the movie is watchable
due to the terrific cast. Rachel Miner gives us her
all (and I truly believe that she's a scream queen in
the making), Jeffrey Pierce turns in a stellar
performance and the rest ain't bad either.

Overall I can't say that I was very impressed with
the first episode, entitled "The Sacrifice", though
and there's really not a whole lot more to say about
it considering that it's only about 45 minutes long.
Oh yeah, I do have to say that the opening sequence
for the show itself is awful with hilariously bad
music and that the ending was terrible. Anyhoo, it's
watchable but just barely and I certainly won't be
buying this on DVD when it's released. Hopefully the
future episodes are more inspiring, but I'm choosing
to stay sceptical at this point.

An impalement and some minor gore.

Decent score, nothing special.

It's not terrible, it's not great. It's uncreative,
uninspired and unoriginal. Obviously this was a rushed
production and I don't think that this show is off to
a very good start. Hopefully it'll get better but
you'd think that they'd begin the show with the best
episode, let's just pray that this isn't the case.
