For hundreds of years, people have celebrated Christmas
as a happy holiday together with family and friends.
What most people don't know is that Santa Claus actually
is a demon who lost a bet with an Angel a thousand years
ago. Well, the bet is over and Santa is coming to town,
and he's killing you off whether you've been naughty or nice.

Ever since I first heard of this movie, I thought it was
going to be awful. The poster was abysmal and the story
seemed cheesy and ridiculous. Well, the story was cheesy
and ridiculous but man was this a whole lot of fun or
what? The movie opens with a bunch of B-celebrities
(Fran Drescher from Nanny, Rebecca Gayheart from Urban
Legend, Chris Kattan from House on Haunted Hill and a
few more) sitting by the dinner table, celebrating
Christmas. Soon enough, evil Santa comes down from the
chimney and wreaks havoc in the dining room. From the
moment I saw the extremely annoying Fran Drescher die,
I just knew that I was going to love this movie.
This isn't a high budget production but calling it
a B-movie would be a lie as it looks more high budget
than most other DTV horror flicks that I've seen. It
actually seems to me as if this deserved a limited
theatrical release considering the star power. We have
Emilie de Ravin from the hit series Lost and Douglas
Smith from Hangman's Curse in starring roles. The biggest
draw however would probably be the fact that the demonic
Santa Claus is played by WWE star Bill Goldberg and he
actually manages to pull it off pretty well, much better
than Hulk Hogan in Santa With Muscles. Santa's Slay is
director David Steimans debut and it's actually quite
an impressive one. The action scenes are incredibly
well done and you find yourself sitting with a smile on
your lips through the entire movie. Now I don't know
about you, but I just didn't expect all this.
Santa's Slay is definitely a positive Christmas surprise
from Lions Gate Entertainment. Sure, it's cheesy and sure
it's not very scary. But just like Jack Frost (the horror
movie of course) managed to entertain the hell out of me
a couple of years ago, Santa's Slay managed to do the
exact same thing. Pulling of an entertaining Christmas
horror flick sure is a hard thing to do, especially when
Father Christmas is the evil villain. Most people don't
succeed with this but Santa's Slay is definitely this
years Christmas horror flick. I strongly recommend this
movie for anyone who can enjoy a cheesy horror movie
every once in a while. Not for stuck-up people.

Santa is not nice in this movie and that results in
various gory impalements, one gets to knifes in the
hands, one gets a pick-axe in the head and a whole lot
more. This was definitely pleasing enough for me.

Let's see. We get normal Christmas music, hip hop Christmas
music, rock Christmas music, anything to get you into the
spirit of Christmas. Brilliant.

I can honestly say that I expected this movie to be
awful. But Lions Gate actually surprised me with this
one. Santa's Slay is definitely this years Christmas
horror flick so gather a couple of friends and get into
the Christmas spirit by watching this cheesy but very
entertaining horror flick.
