Some people head upstate to watch the building of a
giant boat, what the purpose of the boat is I'm still
not sure of. After a while (more like an hour) a
killer with a Halloween mask shows up to kill all the
people that we still haven't grown very attached to.
Since no one seems to realize that there's a killer
among them (even though he's lurking around just foot
steps away from them in broad day light) the killer
has no problem in offing them one by one.

Savage Weekend sure kills the fun of watching 70's
slasher films. It opens up with a girl running
hysterically through the woods until she gets to
an opening in the woods where a guy with a chainsaw
approaches her. SAVAGE WEEKEND... and so the movie
begins. Now we're in for some really unexplainable
stuff, for example; a girl lying sunbathing in the
grass naked gets visited by some random married guy
from the group. He strips off and they start to have
sex, no questions asked. There's also this one weird
scene where a guy puts on a lot of make-up and then
he and a girl from the group starts "chasing" each other
around the house while listening to extremely
repetitive music.
Something that occurred to me while watching this movie
was that the dialogue and music looks a bit dubbed, it
almost feels like one of those 70's -early 80's Italian
horror movies but still it's pretty obvious that the
movie's not dubbed, it just has that feeling. I can't
comment a whole lot on the acting since the actors are
fed with very simple dialogues, the few moments that
they actually do have to act is rather abysmal though.
The movie is simply filmed and the director doesn't
really seem to have a clue on what he's doing. The
worst of all things in this movie is probably the fact
that we actually get to see the killer pick his mask,
his gloves and even his shirt. Atmosphere ruining.
This is one truly awful slasher, it has no real plot
in it and the plot that sometimes manage to shine
through is quite ludicrous. Some movies just aren't
made for a DVD-release and I sure hope that this
movie is forgotten with time and never released to
the public. No one deserves to pay for this terror.
That's just mean. Avoid this movie folks.

This is actually quite funny. The movie is not gory
at all and the one scene that actually does have
blood in it isn't even a murder, it's just a guy
stepping on a fishhook. Also, I don't believe that
people would die due to the things that the killer
did with his victims. Getting hit on a rock three
times (gently I might add) does not leave you dying
in lots of blood, that's just pure logic.

The most amusing thing about the music for sure.
The score is basically only consistent of a whole
lot of truly awful banjo music which is occasionally
stopped with some piano music. Cheesy I tell you.
We do get some synth music and some drums in the
background as well but that added nothing to the movie
in any possible way.

I guess there's a reason to why most of us haven't
heard of movies like Savage Weekend and I guess that
I should stop watching unknown 70's slashers because
this was not even entertaining, it was just a whole
lot of wasted time. If this EVER gets a DVD release,
trust me and stay away from it.
