A big group of students are going on a class trip.
On their way, their bus has to cross a rotten
bridge, this doesn't go to well and the bus, and
the students all end up in the river. The surviving
students have to find their way through a dark
forest but it seems as if this isn't going to be
their lucky day since not only is the forest
rigged with deadly traps, but they've also got
a mysterious killer after them.

Ever since I saw the trailer for this about six
months back, I've been dying to see this fresh
new Thai slasher flick and I am happy to say that
it did not disappoint. Scared can be described
as a mixture between High Tension, Final Destination
and My Little Eye - only much gorier and much
more brutal. It opens up by ridiculing the tired
Asian ghost genre, giving us a couple of giggles
and leaving us with a good feeling about the
rest of the movie.

Obviously inspired by recent gore hits like
High Tension and Final Destination 2, this slasher
has one of the highest body counts in a slasher
movie ever. There's really not a whole lot of
story in here but just like with the Final Destination
franchise, this doesn't rely on a good story,
it relies on awesome and over-the-top death
scenes, wicked twists and a hot cast.

Speaking of the hot cast, the actors are surprisingly
good and actually surpass most American teen
actors. They really manage to connect with the
viewer and just like in Battle Royale, the teens
really seem like strong friends. The directorial
skills are quite average however and even if the
special effects are nice to look at, they're not
as good as they should be.

I hope that this slasher hit will clear the path
for many more Thai slashers in the future as it's
one of the best Thai horror movies that I've
ever seen. We've had enough of long-haired ghosts
so please, give us more of this and Asia will
once again rule the horror market.

Where to begin... I won't tell you everything
since that would ruin the fun for you but we get
a lot of impalements, heads split in half, brutal
decapitations and a whole lot more.

I actually felt as if this movie would have
benefited from a better score since I wasn't
a big fan of the cheesy electric guitar music,
nor was I a fan of the Thai pop music.

While Scared does have its flaws and perhaps
just a couple of twists too many, it still
managed to live up to my very high expectations.
It doesn't have a very complex story but it
sure has a high body count and that's enough
to make this one of the best slashers this year.
Don't miss this one.
