After a girl commits suicide at Tezuka Gakuen High School,
the drama class decides to set up her play in memory of
her. But as the drama students start turning up dead at
different places, the play becomes more difficult to set
up. Who is offing the girls at the High School, and why?
What dark secrets are really hidden in the play.

As School Day Of the Dead got a release date on DVD here
in Sweden I thought that it was time to check my HK release
of it out since it must be quite good if it gets a release
here. At first I was expecting a ghost story in vein of
"Hanako" and "Whispering Corridors", well I was so wrong.
School Day Of the Dead can be described as a mixture between
such films as "FearDotCom" & "Scream". It's what you would
call a murder mystery horrormovie. Even if it does have
slasher tendencies, I still can't really call this a slasher
movie since it's way cleverer than the average slasher
movie. Even I couldn't predict so much as 10 minutes ahead
of what was going to happen and if I may say so myself, I
rock at predicting horrormovies.

While this doesn't really look like an A movie, it still
looks pretty good for being so unknown. Some scenes look
absolutely fantastic actually while some look a bit below
average high budget material but I still dug the hell out
of the camerawork. The acting is good aswell but I was
pissed off to see my favourite character get offed first
so I'm still a little grumpy there. The cast was well chosen
in my opinion and the less talented actors got smaller
roles just like it should be.

Actually I was considering giving this four stars until
the end which totally put me off. At the end I was like,
"Did I just watch a romantic comedy in Japanese?" and that
is not the feeling I want to have when the end credits
start rolling. Overall it was a really entertaining movie
and I just love these mystery movies where you get lots
of clues and you have to try to figure out who to like and
who to dislike.

All we get is a bullet through ones head and a rotten
corpse, pretty dry stuff.

The score was really well composed with a lot of classical
music. I think we heard Claire De Lune approximately ten
times in this movie, if not more and we also got to hear
some other piano music aswell. Yes I admit, I love to hear
piano music in a horrormovie, puts me in a good mood.

Suspense, mystery and a slasher, this movie had it all.
I expected a lot worse from this than what I got and I
ended up enjoying the hell out of this flick. The only
thing that brought this movie down was the weird and
ultra cheesy ending. I highly recommend this horrormovie
to any Japfreak out there.
