After the massacre of her friends a year ago, Nina
has decided to move to an idyllic island where one of
the finest therapeutic institutions is located. The
institution is for girls only who've had problems
in their lives but it seems as if someone doesn't
want them to get better. Many years ago the institution
was a convent and it seems as if one nun is still
there, but she's not one of god servers.

I'm guessing that the truly awful German scream rip-off
"School's Out" made quite good money since this sequel
is a definite improvement. I've been wanting to see this
ever since I found out that there was a sequel to School's
Out, as a slasher fan I am obliged to watch every single
masked killer slasher released on the market somewhere
in the world.
When I saw that this had finally been released in
Germany on a stand-alone DVD I just had to get it.
The plot is very different from the first movie, this
actually managed to be somewhat original... well, for
a slasher anyway. Though from the DVD sleeve I had gotten
the impression that this would be a horror movie about
a demonic nun. I mean, the cover shows an evil nun with
white eyes. Why? The nun never shows her face until the
very end of the movie, and it's not a demon nun, it's
just your typical whodunit flick.
Katharina Wackernagel reprises her role as Nina, to
my surprise to actually. I figured that this would be
a sequel by name only due to the fact that the two
movies have completely different plots. The acting is
all right but it does need a lot of improvement. The
directing on the other hand looks much better than it
did in the first movie. While you could really tell
that School's Out was made for television, this looked
more like a DTV movie than a TV movie. Now, that might
not sound like a big improvement, but believe you me,
it is! The main thing that drags this movie down is
the fact that it's not in the least gory. And this is
one of those films that really needs its gore.
The killer nun looks pretty creepy but there's not a
lot of suspense nor scares. It's still a pretty
entertaining film, I wish that it would have been a
little shorter though as it does tend to get slow at
times and the fact that I watched it in German which
I'm not that good at didn't exactly help. I'd wait
for an English subtitled version if I were you because
the movie would've made no sense without the dialogues
and I've read German for two years and I just barely
made it through with getting what was going on.

It was way too dry, could have used a little more of
the red stuff indeed.

The soundtrack sucks you in right from the beginning.
Beautiful scenery goes brilliantly well together with
a powerful soundtrack.

If you're one of those who had to sit through "School's
Out" and who's thinking that the sequel will probably
be just as bad, if not worse you'd better think again.
It might still not be a very good slasher but it sure
works on a rainy Friday night with your slasher loving
friends. Check it out if you get the chance.
