Seconds before Reika (from the first movie) dies,
she gives the key to a coin locker to her pupil
Ayano. After a hunt for the right coin locker,
Ayano finally finds the right one but she soon
realizes that some things should be left alone.
When some other students at her school finds the
coin locker, the curse begins once again. The
long haired girl is once again out to get anyone
who's opened the coin locker.

After just having seen the first movie, which I
didn't like too much, my expectations weren't
very high when I started watching the sequel as
the sequel has gotten even worse reviews from
most critics than the first one. Allow me to
disagree. I thought the sequel was a slight
improvement from the first one actually. Instead
of trying to copy every other Japanese horror
flick, this one seems to focus more on scaring
its audience rather than just feeding us with
a rip-off story that quickly comes to a dead end.
And also, this one only really focuses on one
character, Ayano which helped us to root for her
more than the characters in the first movie.
Shibuya Kaidan 2 starts where the first one
ended and just like the first one, this is only
a few minutes over the one hour mark long so
after having seen these two movies I've come
to the conclusion that the 2 movies should have
been one longer movie instead, removing some
of the parts from the first one. It really
didn't feel necessary to make two movies about
a nonsense story. I mean, yes, Shibuya Kaidan 2
is relatively pleasing for any fan of Asian
horror movies but the fact remains that there
still isn't a whole lot of story in here. It's
basically just about a haunted coin locker,
nothing more, nothing less.
At the end of the day I'm happy that I decided
to check out the sequel even if I didn't like
the first one. It kept me entertained and it
provided us with a couple of scares, and even
if they were cheap scares, cheap scares are
better than no scares (like in the first one).
I'm hoping that there won't be a third one
though as the story can't be developed any
further. It's an entertaining flick for the
moment but is quickly forgotten among all the
other Asian horror flicks.

Nothing. Just like in the first one.

Once again, this was the best part of the movie.
However, I felt a little ripped off since they
used the exact same score as they did in the
first movie. But it's a great score so who can
blame them?

Slightly better than the first movie and succeeds
better in scaring and entertaining than the first
one did. It's not a movie that you HAVE to see,
as you will probably have forgotten all about it
after two days. Overall, it's an OKAY movie, but
nothing more than that.
