A young couple
interested in photography moves to Tokyo
and accidentally hit a girl with their car late one
night. After the accident they start having ghostly
visions and their photos are all screwed up. Could it
be the girl from the accident?

WHAT A RIP!! NEVER EVER BEFORE HAVE I LEFT THE CINEMA
BEFORE THE MOVIE WAS OVER BUT AFTER ONE HOUR I WAS
FUCKING OUT OF THERE!!! If you didn't notice I am
FUCKING PISSED OFF!! I gave the original Shutter a
full 5/5 rating but this piece of crap remake barely
even deserves a 0. The original Shutter might not have
been the most original horror film at the time but it
sure as hell made a mark as one of the most terrifying
horror films in history. This rubbish wouldn't even
be able to scare a 5 year-old kid. Okay, let me just
calm myself down. Deep breaths. No, screw it, let the
bashing begin!
This atrocious remake is truly an insult to the original,
I'm sure that the movie goers in Thailand felt both
disgust and hatred towards this remake when they left
the theater. This time it doesn't start with a couple
of friends having drinks, it starts with a young couple
who are on their way to Tokyo since Benjamin (Joshua
Jackson) just got a job there. No, not Thailand, Japan!
As if the movie itself wasn't insulting enough, it
actually takes place in Japan! And to make things worse,
even the director is Japanese! And let me tell you,
Masayuki Ochiai has not produced enough good horror
movies in his days to have the honour of remaking such
a brilliant film - I don't know what the fuck they
were thinking. He's made one good movie and a couple
of mediocre ones at best - he's not even famous in
Japan, what the hell is he doing directing an American
remake of one of Thailand’s most successful movies ever?
Anyway so the couple hits a girl with their car and
from there on we are fed with embarrassingly bad dialogues,
awful special effects (that have no place in this
movie) and a ghost that's not even remotely scary.
Heck, she doesn't even look like a ghost for most of
the time, she looks like any other model on crack. Oh
speaking about models. Benjamin doesn't shoot classes
and nature etc, he's a fashion photographer! Luke
Dawson, who rewrote the script, should be shot! What
has he even done before? On IMDB the only previous
listing for him is for some 18min film called New
York Stories from 2003. Man, the producers just didn't
care about this movie at all did they?
Okay so the most terrifying scenes from the original
are still intact though... right? WRONG! They've
removed all of the creepiest scenes from the original
and replaced them with a poorly CGI-made ghost that
actually attacks people. Yes! She attacks people.
This is where I left the cinema, when she makes her
first kill she bashes the camera into a guy so that a
big black hole is left where his eye is supposed to
be. Can you believe it?! Seriously! Man what a load
of bull! Oh and for those of you who haven't seen the
original and think that I missed the best part - the
twist ending - well, I all ready know how it's going
to end and it doesn't matter that I've seen the original
because they simply couldn't have made it more obvious
in this lousy remake.
When the atrocious remake of One Missed Call was released
I really thought that we had hit rock bottom as far as
Asian horror remakes are concerned but I was wrong.
It gets worse. It gets much worse! Shutter makes One
Missed Call look like a freaking masterpiece so you
can understand just how truly awful this movie is.
I haven't seen anything this bad in several years and
I'm just shocked that they managed to turn something
so brilliant into something so atrocious that it's not
even watchable. I sit through a lot of crap but there's
no way I'm ever going to finish the final 20 minutes or
whatever of this film as I really felt insulted and
appalled as a horror fan. This movie isn't just a stinker,
sour milk has nothing on this film. It doesn't get any
worse than this people and if you watch this without
having seen the original film first, well, you may want
to consider abandoning horror films completely because
then you've just insulted one of the best horror films
in film history and supported one of the worst movies ever.

No.

Crap.

Everyone who watches this movie should be ashamed of
themselves, I know I am but at least I got out in time
to save my integrity. This is appalling and I am
offended and insulted as a horror fan. I can't believe
they were able to screw this up so badly. They had a
great horror flick and turned it into the turd of the
century. What a piece of crap!
