For as long as
she can remember, Miranda has lived with
her uncle, Tom. She lives a normal life and works as a
professor, the only thing she doesn't know is that she
is not very normal at all. In fact, she was genetically
developed through human and alien DNA... and for aliens,
mating season is coming up.

Some franchises should quit while they're still ahead
and Species is one of those. The third movie was a
hoot and improved much on the second movie which was
a complete drag. Unfortunately, Species 4 has a very
slow pace and drags the franchise down again. This
will most likely be the end of this franchise. The
extremely dull and basic plot revolves around a woman
called Miranda who doesn't know that she's half alien
and half human. She lives with her uncle, Tom, who's
grown very fond of her over the years. But lately
Miranda has started to get sick and her alien side is
starting to show more and more.
Tom is left with no other option than to go to Mexico
to find his old colleague so that they can cure Miranda’s
illness. But by curing her illness, they've just
released a dangerous and horny alien woman, and she's
about to paint the town red. The first hour or so of
the movie is very slow. Sure, it probably would have
helped had the script been somewhat better, but it'd
take a lot of re-writing to save this flick. There are
several annoying mistakes like when Miranda finds out
she's an alien, she doesn't seem too upset about it
and buys into it quite easily without asking any real
questions. To me this felt a bit odd. Had my parents
told me that I was an alien I would've laughed in their
faces. It's too ludicrous to be true, right?
Anyway, once the alien action finally does start, it's
not very interesting since the characters are all too
flat for one to be able to care about any of them. The
budget has obviously also been lowered since the last
DTV sequel as the movie looks surprisingly cheap. The
special effects are rather corny and the erotic scenes
are far from as intense as they should have been. In
other words, it's like all the previous movies, only
less interesting. I understand that they wanted to take
a more serious approach to the concept and I appreciate
that they at least tried to do something different but
how many people can take a movie about killer alien
chicks with great bodies seriously? You see my point?
Species 4 will be the end of this franchise and I don't
recommend that you check it out. It's undoubtedly the
worst movie in the franchise, even if that's not
saying much. In my opinion this was a mediocre franchise
to begin with. If you want to see a good and funny
movie about killer alien chicks, check out Decoys
instead. Don't bother with this one people.

Many tentacle impalements through eyes, heads, bodies
etc. Some cool death scenes but overall nothing special.

Eh, what can I say? It's nothing special.

How do you describe Species 4 with one word? The answer
is "Meh". It's mediocre entertainment at best, you
can easily watch it until the end but you won't ever
really enjoy it. It's dull, it's clichéd, and it's
poorly written. Worst among the Species flicks but
luckily not quite as bad as Decoys 2 was.
