Eight friends decide to break into an abandoned mill
late one night for some drinking and partying. What
they don't know is that there's someone else in the
building, waiting for intruders to arrive so that he
can kill them. Soon enough, the friends start turning
up dead one by one. Who could this mysterious killer
be, and why is he killing the friends?

That's right, another mediocre, generic slasher flick
has hit the shelves people. Well, the shelves in
Brazil anyway, I have no idea when this is being
released on DVD in the states but since the movie
looks like it had decent production values, it probably
won't be long until Lions Gate releases it under some
lame title like "The Slaughter Factory" or "Terror at
the Mill". Anyhow, The Mill isn't a bad slasher flick,
nor is it a good one, it sails right in the middle and
sports a rather entertaining plot and some very dull
kills. Some of the most boring kills in the history
of slasher flicks actually. The goriest thing we get
in here is a slashed throat, and that slashed throat
isn't very gory either.

So the movie is basic slasher material - a group of
friends in an abandoned building getting killed off
one by one. But wait! There's something else! Yes,
the unseen killer actually takes help from various
poisonous animals such as snakes and spiders to off
his victims. It's like a teen slasher version of
Willard. I actually kind of dug this twist and it
certainly made the movie feel more worthwhile. The
cast itself isn't anything special nor are the
annoying characters. Heck, I didn't care whether they
lived or not but unfortunately the most annoying
person out of the entire bunch gets killed last. Oh
don't worry, it's not like the ending is a surprise,
we all know who the killer is even though they thought
that they were clever. Figuring out who the killer is
in The Mill is easier than uncovering a mystery in a
Scooby-Doo episode but that didn't really matter.

The Mill is simply a mindless, fun slasher flick and
it doesn't try to be anything else. It's entertaining
enough to keep you watching and it certainly has a
better pace than most DTV slashers these days. It's
all ready starting to leave my mind though and I just
finished watching it so it's certainly a forgettable
flick. Still, if you're looking for a generic slasher
movie with a twist and a moderately entertaining
story, I definitely recommend The Mill. It's actually
surprisingly entertaining.

Nothing much.

I kinda hated the pling-plong sounds, I didn't know
whether it was my phone or the movie. The pop music
didn't do anything for me either. Cheap stuff.

A surprisingly entertaining slasher flick with a cool
twist. It's not going to win any awards for originality
but hey, at least they tried to make something different.
If you're in the mood for a gore-less slasher movie
which doesn't thrill too much, go ahead and check The
Mill out, it's not half-bad.
