The spirit of an evil nun who used to teach at a
catholic school for girls returns with the help
of water to kill the girls who were giving her a
hard time a couple of years back. Will any of the
girls be able to survive and how do you kill
something which consists of water?

A killer water nun demon? Oh come on, does it
get much more ludicrous than this? It's been almost
a year now since I first saw the trailer for this
new Spanish slasher flick and man was I impressed.
This looked like one hell of a time judging by
the trailer and I could hardly wait to see it.
Well, now I've seen it and I am far from impressed.
The concept of having a killer water nun spirit
might be cool for a couple of minutes but it
quickly gets tired and at the end you can't help
but to giggle at this ridiculous demon.
The movie is built up in a very strange way which
really doesn't help either. See, normally you
would have all the dull stuff for the first
half of the movie in a slasher, but in The Nun,
it's the other way around. The first half of the
movie is rather entertaining with some pretty cool
death scenes (the elevator scene is clearly the
best thing about this movie) but the second half
is very slow and ludicrous with some twists that
are kind of rude seeing as how we aren't even
given the ability to figure them out before they
are explained, don't you just hate that.
Filmax should have just let this be what it is,
a cheesy slasher flick with a killer nun but when
they try to pass this off as a serious movie,
you can't do much more but to laugh at it. Cool
special effects and some gore just isn't enough
to satisfy me, especially not when the majority
of the movie is a dull and ludicrous drama. The
actors are stiff and since some of them are Spanish,
the dialogues feel anything but natural. Filmax
are really losing their touch with movies like
Rottweiler and Deadly Cargo. I hope that their
upcoming horror flicks will be better than this
because this just won't do.

We get severed arms, a pretty cool decapitation,
an impalement and some blood splatter. Could have
used a few more kills if you ask me.

The score is actually really good and powerful.
Unfortunately, a solid soundtrack couldn't save
this flick from drowning.

The Nun was a huge disappointment to me as I had
expected it to be so much more than what it
actually turned out to be. While there is some
good gore effects and a couple of cool special
effects, this movie still fails to entertain.
If you think you're in for a fast paced slasher
flick, you are so wrong, but it still could have
been a whole lot worse.
