The most famous script writer in Indonesia decides to
go to the scariest house in the country to write a
script for a horror film which begins shooting soon.
She has ten days to finish the script and she does so
successfully, despite ghosts disturbing her constantly.
Now, a group of actors and a camera crew have started
to shoot the movie in the exact same house and it
doesn't take long before evil spirits join in on the fun.

Some of you may have noticed that both Indonesia and
Thailand have started churning out home made-looking
horror flicks DTV (not direct to video but direct to
VCD) as of lately. That's right, as if their theatrical
productions weren't low-budget enough, they've actually
started releasing even lower budget movies direct to
VCD. I guess the trend is spreading huh? Well anyway,
why am I saying this? The Wall is a theatrical flick,
right? Well, yes and no. It did get a wide theatrical
release in Indonesia (and BOMBED!), but there is
NOTHING theatrical about this shit-fest. It's so bad
that it makes you want to claw your own eyes out.
Still, you will get a few chuckles along the way since
it's so bad that it's almost funny.

The movie opens with five random kids of various ages
holding a séance in a haunted house. The next thing
we know, they're lying dead on the floor. Then we're
introduced to the main character of the movie, Sabrina,
or so we think. This is actually just another way to
pad out the movie. Sabrina is the most famous script
writer in all of Indonesia (in the movie anyway) and
she's been hired to write a script in ten days (which
is probably longer than this entire movie took to make).
She decides that she wants to write a horror script
and to get inspired she wants to stay in the scariest
house in the entire country. Well, she doesn't get to
write much before ghostly things start to happen...
and they don't just happen once. They happen constantly!
She enters a room - she sees a ghost - she enters a
new room - she sees a ghost - the phone rings - she
sees a ghost. It's ridiculous! Anyway, I will get deeper
into what the ghosts do to scare people later. So she
finishes the script and forces the film company to
shoot at that same house (hmm, could she be possessed
by one of the spirits from the house? I wonder...)
They reluctantly agree to do so and naturally spooky
things start to happen around the villa.

Okay so I'll be honest with you, I fast-forwarded
through the final 20 minutes or so of the movie due
to the fact that the subtitles on the DVD started to
lag extremely and would show up maybe 20 seconds later
than they were supposed to but I did get a pretty good
idea of how the ghosts try to scare people. Oh and
what horrifying things they do. They clean, they cook,
they play music and they sit peacefully in rocking
chairs. THE TERROR!!! I also found it funny how the
cast would change outfits every now and then, only
to go back to the outfit that they had on in a few
scenes earlier at a later point. The acting is awful.
The movie looks like it was made by a group of high
school friends (that's also the level the acting is
at) and the scares aren't scary at all. What is with
Indonesia and these annoying loud noise scares? They
are so loud that the sound actually gets distorted.
It doesn't scare you, it just hurts your ears.

You know, I can imagine that The Wall is one of those
movies that potheads are going to love because it is
so bad that you can find yourself laughing out loud
at times. YES, that IS how bad this movie is. I've
seen some bad Indonesian horror flicks but this wins
by a landslide. This should have gone straight to VCD
in Indonesia and I don't know WHAT they were thinking
releasing this in theatres. They can't have been
serious... could they?

Nothing really worth mentioning.

Hahaha, awful!

Atrocious ghost flick which is so bad that you can't
help but to laugh at the pure incompetence of it all.
Obviously this wouldn't scare a 5 year old. I may
have to show this to my nephew as an experiment
actually. Anyway, it's the worst movie I've seen in
ages and I can't believe it got a theatrical release.
But don't you worry, this will NEVER find distribution
outside its native country.
