Clara and Mario are on their way to look at a new
apartment. At first sight it looks like a complete
dump, but they soon get very attached to the old
building - literally. It turns out that the real
estate agent is completely out of her mind and is
looking for the perfect tenants... there's only one
thing that she doesn't mention in the add. Leaving
is not an option.

I don't know what to say. Two fivers in one single
anthology? Is this actually happening? Well you better
believe it because "To Let" is close to perfection.
Jaume Balaguero, who's responsible for such supernatural
movies as Fragile and Darkness moves out of his safe
territory and takes a stab at the psycho-thriller-genre.
Great move. "To Let" is a terrifying and extremely
suspenseful horror flick which, just like Baby's Room,
keeps you on the edge of your seat until the
spectacular ending - it's not a twist ending, it's
just so god damn rewarding that there are no words
for it. In fact, I'm probably going to have a difficult
time reviewing this flick as it's hard to describe
what I just saw.

To Let revolves around Clara and Mario, a young couple
on the hunt for a new place to live. They arrive at a
big apartment building in an old area outside town
and consider leaving before they even meet the real
estate agent since it looks like such a dump. Well,
they don't really get a chance before the agent comes
knocking on their window. The building is even worse
on the inside and there are manikins all over the
place. The opening scene, and everything else for
the first fifteen minutes or so, suggest that this
is going to be a supernatural horror flick, but it's
really not. It doesn't take long before the real
estate agent hits Mario so hard that he falls to the
ground and starts chasing Clara around. Clara soon
discovers something even more disturbing as well,
there are more tenants in this building, and they
are all chained up in their apartments.

This is a disturbing and suspenseful tale of terror
which feels like nothing you've seen in a long time,
and just when you think that things are starting to
look up for the young couple, their situation gets
even worse. Jaume crams terror into every single
frame and doesn't let the viewer up for so much as
a breather. I mean, how can you possibly describe a
movie like this? It's impossible.

Whatever you do, do not miss this brilliant psycho
thriller as it's one of the best horror movies of the
year. If you like Jamue Balaguero's directing-style,
you will be sure to love this as everything about it
screams Balaguero, and you will scream along with it.

Fingers chopped off, a whole bunch of blood splatter.

We get some pop music in the beginning which was nice,
but for the rest of the movie we're treated with an
intense score which really serves the movie well.

Balaguero's last movie, Fragile, disappointed me, but
this is without a doubt his best work to date. If you're
expecting a creepy ghost story, you might be
disappointed - but if you're looking for one hell of
a time, this is the way to go. Fast-paced, suspenseful
and intense as hell is what this movie is so be sure
not to miss it.
