Conrad is
going to her new girlfriend, Berenice's
family for Christmas even though he's incredibly
nervous about meeting them. It doesn't help
matters when Bernice's family turns out to be
a bit... special, and things are just about to
go from bad to worse.

I had no idea what to expect heading into this
British horror flick. The poster was horrendously
cheap and I knew nothing about the plot so I was
naturally a bit sceptical. After the movie was
done I was still scratching my head a bit. This
was just a very bizarre and weird movie and it
really makes you appreciate your family.
The movie opens with a girl and her younger brother
reading from a book. One thing leads to another
and their pet mouse ends up getting splattered
in their blender (ehmm, yeah let's not go further
into that). A couple of years later, the girl is
all grown up and is bringing her boyfriend home
to meet her family for Christmas. Well this family
sure is one of a kind, I don't even know where
to begin explaining these characters, you have to
see it to believe it.
So far I still hadn't really gotten what the
movie was all about but after a while I was like
"Oh! It's a slasher flick!" and immediately
started enjoying it a whole lot more. It's really
difficult to get a grip on the story before the
killing starts but the bizarre events leading up
to the big climax are actually very necessary for
us to be able to really understand why people
are reacting certain ways.
After I had finished watching this I discussed
it with a friend and he used a very good word for
this movie; unique, that's exactly what this
movie is. It might be difficult to sit through
the first fifty minutes and I'm pretty sure that
this isn't for everyone as it is a bit artsy
(many scenes are filmed quite stunningly with a
hand-held camera which is awesome even if you
see the boom one time). But if you enjoy the
occasional bizarre slasher flick you might want
to give this one a go.

Not a lot of gore in here. A slit throat is pretty
much the goriest thing we get.

A bizarre story needs bizarre music and that's
exactly what this is. A strange ambient score
helps creating the perfect atmosphere.

I'm on the fence with this one. The Toybox was
at times a little too bizarre for me even though
there's a very original and good story in there.
Once the movie reaches its climax however, it
felt like it had all been worth the ride so you
might want to give it a chance if you enjoy the
occasional artsy slasher flick.
