Five
teenagers set out on a road trip with a
remote beach in Mexico as their destination. What
was supposed to be a fun surfing trip ends up
in misery when the teenagers realize that there's
a reason to why no Mexicans inhabit this beach.
Apparently, it's cursed and the teens soon find
themselves running from a bunch of zombies.

"28 Days Later meets Blair Witch" is printed in
big, bold letters on the back of this DVD and
it's never a good thing when anything meets the
horrible no-budget movie "Blair Witch Project"
so naturally I had my suspicions heading into
this movie. Luckily, there was very little Blair
Witch about this movie and I ended up enjoying
this semi-original zombie flick.
Trespassers looks like it might have had quite
a good budget - for a DTV movie that is. There
is very little hand-held camera footage and the
little that we get is actually very suspenseful.
Unfortunately, the director must've thought it
was a good idea to exclude all kinds of light
sources in the night scenes so for 40% of the
time it's close to impossible to see what's
happening - this annoyed me a lot.
Another thing that I disliked was the apparent
absence of gore - I mean, it's a zombie-flick
for crying out loud. Luckily, the acting and the
story was good enough to keep my interest
throughout the movie. The characters are all
very stereotypical but at least we get to root
for them since we get a good introduction to
each and every one of the characters.
Zombie fans might be disappointed by the heavy
lack of gore but I still think that this is one
of the better DTV zombie-flicks that I've seen.
It's entertaining, it's fast-paced and it's got
an original twist on the zombie genre. Check
this one out if you don't need a lot of gore.

We get some eyelids cut off, an impalement and
some dry skeletons.

The Mexican rock music serves its purpose and so
does the suspense score. Overall, this was a
surprisingly good soundtrack.

Mildly entertaining zombie-flick with a heavy
lack of gore but a story which keeps the viewer
interested. Sure, it's pretty forgettable but
it entertains while you're watching it so if
you don't need a lot of gore, give this one a
shot, you could do a whole lot worse.
