Selene and Michael continue to participate in the
battle between vampires and werewolves as the
stories of both parts are revealed. Meanwhile,
Marcus is determined to find his lycan brother
William and set him free from the jail that he's
in, but if he succeeds, all hell will break loose.
Who will win the battle this time?

While I am a big fan of the first movie, I was a
little sceptical about this sequel. I mean, the
story had all ready been done once and I just
didn't see how they could develop it much more.
And this time I was actually right. While Underworld
Evolution is both louder and more action-packed
than the first movie, it felt like a very
unnecessary sequel as there was very little added
to the story, and the few things that were added
felt very desperate. The entire thing basically
reeked of "we need to make more money quick while
people still remember the first movie, skip
originality and throw some dumb twists in there".

Only two weeks ago I sat through Uwe Boll's
BloodRayne and I thought to myself "well this was
quite entertaining but I bet Underworld 2 will
be even better". Now, I was right about one thing,
Underworld: Evolution is certainly better. It
looks higher budget, it is much better directed
and the acting is top-notch. But when it comes
to entertaining, I have to say that I was more
entertained while watching Bloodrayne than I was
while watching this - despite the fact that this
had a kick-ass ending.

I think that I've just seen to many movies with
the exact same concept before. I mean, when the
first Underworld movie was released, the concept
was still fairly original. But now, we have
countless of vampire action movies on our hands
and they all seem pretty much the same to me.
If you ask me, this should have been much more
than it was. The story felt like it had been
thrown together in a couple of days and the only
redeeming qualities about this movie is the
acting, the directing and the action scenes because
story wise, I was not satisfied.

Certainly much gorier than the first movie with
bodies being splattered up in pieces, heads being
crushed, countless of impalements and much more.

The soundtrack was very much like the one used in
the first movie and I noticed very little
difference. It's a good score though and it suits
the movie so no complaints here.

Underworld Evolution is a pretty entertaining
movie and it does have some great moments but
ultimately, I was not impressed with what I got.
This should have been so much more than just a
money-making sequel, which it so obviously was.
This is probably more entertaining to those who
have yet to see the first movie but I've seen
this story a bit too many times now.
