"An interesting horror thriller"

Sam is hired to plan the demolition of an old
building standing in the middle of nowhere. The
building is built in a very peculiar way and looks
like something out of the creepiest of horror
movies, but Sam is not one to be discouraged. What
she doesn't know is that hundreds of bodies are
buried within these walls - and she could be next.

I'm not too fond of all these teen drama queens that
have emerged out of Hollywood as of lately and
Mischa Barton is definitely on the bottom of that
list. At least Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan
have something to be proud of but what does Mischa
have? A generic teen soap opera? Wow, what an
achievement. Surprisingly enough, Walled In is quite
good and Mischa Barton gives us a very good
performance and redeems herself to a certain extent
in my eyes. Mischa gets a very mature part in Walled
In and handles it beautifully, of course she's not
a stranger to horror having been in movies such
as "Octane" and "The Sixth Sense" before, and I really
think that she's found her niche.

Walled In tells the story of Sam, a young woman
who calculates and plans demolitions of buildings.
Her latest (and first) assignment is a very creepy
building standing in the middle of nowhere with
only a few tenants left in it. She soon discovers
that there's something off about the building and
finds out that the house is in fact a burial ground
for many people. In other words, the walls are
filled with dead people. You'd think that this would
automatically make this a ghost story, but it
doesn't. In fact, Walled In is much more of a thriller
than it is a horror movie and we don't get to find
out who/what the evil entity is until in the final
half hour or so of the movie.

The mystery is enticing enough to keep you interested
in the story though and the beautiful cinematography
is a visual treat. It's a little weak for a theatrical
release story-wise but it certainly looks up-to-par
with recent theatrical horror movies. I'm even on
the fence with giving this a 4/5 but the thing is,
I didn't feel like the pay-off was good enough. It
was a neat movie but there was nothing that really
made it stand out. I wish it would've had... you
know, just something but it was a bit flat and
forgettable. Nevertheless, I was still very positively
surprised by this mysterious little horror flick.

A suspenseful and unpredictable horror movie that
surprises on many levels, Walled In may smell like
a flop but tastes quite nice. For those of you
expecting a ghost movie, don't, there's not a single
ghost to be found in here. It's a neat mystery
thriller and definitely worth checking out but
don't expect anything great either.

Not much here.

Nothing special.

Walled In is an interesting horror thriller that
doesn't go where you expect it to go. It's a bit
tame and the story is a bit thin but as far as
DTV horrors go, this is actually pretty good and
I will go ahead and recommend that you check it out.
