Trisha is
baby-sitting and it doesn't take long
before she starts receiving strange phone calls.
When the person calling threatens to kill her, she
decides to call the police - and surprise,
surprise - the calls are coming from inside the
house... wait... haven't I seen this before?

Making an original horror movie these days is
difficult since it seems as if everything's all
ready been done but The Asylum are taking
unoriginality to a new level with their cheap
knock-offs. Only a week after the remake of
"When A Stranger Calls" hit the theatres, this
cheap copy hit the stores.
Now, I personally really disliked the remake of
"When A Stranger Calls" but this movie is even
slightly worse. The story is close to identical
to the theatrical remake and the only thing that's
better about this movie is that it has a better
pace and some more gore. However, a better pace
and more gore didn't make this a better movie in
its entirety since the actors are incredibly poor
and the budget has got to be one of the lowest
that I've seen from The Asylum.
All you really need to make a movie like this is
a phone, a house, a camera and a hot teenage chick.
Well, while we ALMOST rooted for the girl in
When A Stranger Calls, we don't root at all for
this Trisha girl who looks like she was dragged
right from a beach in Miami and onto the set.
Seriously, this barbie-bimbo is impossible to
root for as her character is so stupid and
obnoxious that you can't wait to see her get killed.
I have yet to see The Asylum's Hills Have Eyes
rip-off "Hillside Cannibals" but I sure miss the
days when they produced original and entertaining
flicks like "Detour" and "Jolly Rogers". Hopefully
they will go back to original stories again soon
as I still love this company to death. Enough
with these cheap DTV rip-offs all ready.

We get a knife through ones head, a couple of
slit throats and some stabbings.

The suspense score over-all isn't too bad but
the cheesy muzak used in a semi-sex scene was
just horrible.

With a title like "When A Killer Calls" you just
know that it's going to be bad but I didn't
expect it to be even worse than the theatrical
teen horror flick that recently came out. Skip
this and go for the cult 70s flick instead as
this was just a big mess.
