A couple
of thugs kidnap the daughter of some
rich guy and her friend Sonia for ransom. They
bring them to a secluded cabin in the woods,
unknowing of the terror that awaits them outside.
With bodies piling up in the woods, the two
girls soon realize that the kidnappers are the
least of their worries.

Damn it! I knew from the looks of the cover that
this was going to be a low-rent slasher flick
but forty minutes into the movie I got a bit
suspicious as to who would release this crap
(excuse my language). I turn to the back of the
DVD sleeve and noticed Maverick Entertainment's
logo on there. Had I only known this before
I had started watching it I would never even
have unpacked the DVD. I've yet to see a single
decent horror flick from Maverick's CreepFX
division. 90% of their movies feel like bad
homemade blacksploitation movies and what's
even worse is that they put all the African-
American’s in thug parts where they are either
smoking pot or doing some kind of a crime. This
to me feels very offensive but I guess only
people with a love for pot could enjoy a movie
like this on any level.
As usual the story is absolute nonsense with
horrible editing and even worse acting. It
feels like somebody shot this in their own
backyard with a couple of friends. And as if
that wasn't amateurish enough for you, we also
get to see the boom clearly - more than once.
The DVD sleeve of this states in big bold
letters that it's the Unrated Director's Cut.
Well first of all, I'm pretty sure there's not
a cut version out there so was there really
need to slam that on there. And second of all,
there wasn't a whole lot of gore, you never
actually get to see anyone get killed, you just
get to see the victims dead and the big fat
killer walking away from the body.
If you've seen any of Maverick's other horror
movie releases you probably know what to expect.
We've finally found a company worse than Dead
Alive Productions - and at least their movies
were entertaining while as Maverick's movies
contain no entertainment value at all. Skip
this homemade slasher flick and hopefully
Maverick will eventually realize just how bad
their productions are.

Some blood and some dead bodies, not a lot.

As expected we get a lot of cheesy midi-made
music with some terrible hip hop beats and even
worse "suspense" music.

Woods Of Evil is almost 90 minutes of pure
nonsense. It's offensive (not in a good way),
it's dull, and it doesn't even have any real
gore in it. I see no reason to why you should
put yourself through this horrible movie,
unless of course, you were involved in the
making of it.
